Let’s start by saying Welcome to our home! This is our getaway and hope it can be yours too! Only 1.5-2 hours from Chicago, this quick trip to Michigan has all the offerings you can think of when you just want to escape.
Wineries, breweries, farms, golf and much more! This small town is near the chain of the Sister Lakes, but provides you the relaxation of a quieter and less congested space. Our Indian Lake is about 5 miles from the Sister Lakes region and 30 minutes from South Bend. So whether you want to relax on the lake, go to a local brewery/winery, play a round of golf at Indian Lake Golf Course or catch a Notre Dame game, we got you covered!
Enjoy your time here, pick some apples, taste some local brews, enjoy a breathtaking sunset or sunrise, if that’s your thing. You decide your Escape and write your own destination! Most importantly, don’t forget to come back!
Information about the location:
Our house is a one level ranch located on a private drive. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Our house is pet friendly (under 50lbs).
Our house is the yellow ranch style home. There are only 5 house on the section of the street. Please use caution when driving to the home at night as it can be hard to see the street signs. The Indian Trail road sign is very hard to see, so just know if you get to “School Street” or “Forest Beach” you have gone too far. Indian Trail road is located in between those two streets. Note: It’s just before or after the entrance of the Golf course, depending on the direction you are headed on Brush Lake Road.

Our house is right on the lake, with about 25 feet of frontage. Unfortunately, we do not have a beach area for swimming at our property. Our dock is not equipped for diving as the water level is inconsistent in that section. There is a ladder if you want to take a dip or just hang your feet into the water. Please use caution when walking near the water and DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED. The dock is great to fish from or sit and watch a sunset. We also have a boat that can be rented during your stay for $325 per day (based on availability) that can allow you to tour the lake and find the best spots to take a dip. There are several spots on Indian Lake that are shallow and allow for great enjoyment and relaxation for those who like the water.
If swimming and the lake isn’t your thing, we are right next door to Indian Lake Golf Course. This golf course is pretty popular and provides 18 holes to challenge it’s visitors. It is literally a 5 min walk or 2 min drive.
If relaxing is your main goal, we have patio furniture to lounge outside or swing in a hammock, as our yard can give you the tranquility you are looking for while overlooking the water.
There is also a built in fire pit in the back yard for you and yours to enjoy the night under the stars. You can burn some firewood, make some smores, tell some stories and unwind. (NOTE:If using the fire pit, please make sure the home’s windows are closed, as the smoke can make its way inside and set off the detectors.)
INFORMATIONAL: Indian lake has no real “Beach Area” but there is a spot off of Indian Lake Road that allows you to park on the side and walk right in. If you rent the boat, there are several areas that are shallow for you to enjoy the sun and take advantage of the water. We also have some Kayaks that are available to use during your stay. This is a great way to still get on the water and enjoy the sun and atmosphere.

PARKING:
Unfortunately the garage is closed off, but you can park on the side of the garage and front. The area can hold up to 6 vehicles (2 on the each side and 2 on the front). If you need additional accommodation, let us know and we can work it out. Remember, if you move the trash can please make sure its on the front of the garage on the outer edge of the cemented section by trash Pick up day.
TRASH PICK UP:
Trash pick up is on Monday morning. Usually before 8am. Please make sure the BLUE TRASH BIN is placed on the cemented area in the front corner edge of the garage, otherwise the trash will not be picked up.(if it’s too far back they won’t pick up. Please see picture for placement)
HEATING/COOLING:
All Rooms all have fans, whether ceiling or floor fan. If you see a remote, please return it to the holder or basket so we don’t lose them. Otherwise, the ceiling fans may function with the light switch or manually.
The house has a Forced air furnace and Central Air. The sun room has a wall unit which operates with a remote. We ask you please only turn on when using the room. That room does get super hot but once the unit is on, the temp quickly will adjust. Keeping the sliding doors closed may help cool it down faster. In
Wifi-Digital Thermostat: In order to conserve energy, we ask you to adjust it if you are not in the house.
KITCHEN:
We have a large kitchen with a very large island for seating. The kitchen is equipped with state of the art stainless steel appliances. We offer a dual coffee machine, so you can make KCUPS or the traditional pot. (NOTE:There are two separate compartments for water in the coffee machine, so when adding water, make sure to select the side you want to use. The filter is a stainless steel reusable filter for the drip side, so you just have to rinse it out and it’s ready for the next brew! A Frother will also be there to inspire your inner barista!)
We offer a, Ninja Blender System, Toaster, Airfryer, pots and pans, storage containers, bowls, 5 burner stove, CAFE SERIES Dishwasher**, Microwave and Oven.
**when loading the dishwasher please make sure to wipe down the plates first and remove any food particles in the trash. Our plumbing thanks you!
(Note: Garbage disposal doesn’t work, so we kindly ask you to use the food catcher and avoid food going into the drain)
Refrigerator:
We have a Samsung Hub that dispenses filtered water and “sometimes” ice. However, when the ice maker is working, it doesnt make ice too fast and holds a small amount, so make sure to pick up bags of ice to be safe. Use whatever condiments you may need.
OUTSIDE COOKING/LIVING:
We have a patio table and chairs, along with some additional seating around the fire pit. For cooking, there is a Charcoal Weber Kettle Grill and Genesis Gas Grill. We have a prep station and large standing cooler for your favorite beverages outside. Built in bottle opener– Make sure to bring some ice!
LAUNDRY:
Washer and dryer are here for your convenience. They are Samsung Top Loaders. Detergent and supply is in the cabinets. We ask you please clean out lint compartment after every use as t tends to fill up quickly!
BEACH TOWELS, LINENS AND REGULAR TOWELS:
You will find these in the closet near the hallway bathroom. The closet will have an array of items for your stay, including some first aid needs, soap, washcloths, and bath towels. Additional towels/blankets can be found in the baskets in the room or larger bathroom.
A twin Inflatable bed will be found in the bedroom with the two twin beds. There will also be linens in that closet for the twin bed and extra blankets.
If you need extra linens for any of the other bedrooms, we leave a Queen set in the dresser of the Queen Bedroom and a King Set in the closet of the king bedroom drawer. The King bed is a split head mattress, so it requires special sheets
ELECTRONICS/TELEVISIONS:
All TVs are smart and you can stream as long as you are on the wifi! So feel free to download your favorite apps or check out the list that is already pre-loaded and available on each TV.
Master bedroom TV: Sharp Tv w/GOOGLE CHROMECAST 55”. Please use the GOOGLE REMOTE to use the TV. That will control volume as well. The soundbar is not connected to the TV, it has Bluetooth connectivity, so if you wish to stream an audiobook or music, feel free. The remote is the tiny one in the night stand drawer.
NOTE: After hours of no use, the power shuts off to the tv as a power saving feature. If you don’t see the red standby light, no worries, just unplug and plug it back in!
Living Room TV: Sharp w/GOOGLE CHROMECAST 55” (INPUT- “BONUS ROOM”) and we also have an XFINITY FLEX (INPUT- “XFINITY”). Depending on the streaming device you choose, there is a remote in the basket. There is also a large Sharp remote to control the volume if needed.
NOTE: POLK SPEAKER runs on Bluetooth, it’s not connected to the TV, but there for your pleasure if you wish to listen to music. (TECHY DETAIL: The Xfinity flex allows bluetooth connectivity to the Polk Speaker. You have to make sure it’s connected in the settings menu)
Sunroom- LG Smart TV 65”- Hit Home button to go to preloaded apps. The TV has the audio connected to a Denon receiver so it gives you a great sound for sports or movies.
If for whatever reason the Denon is not streaming properly, change the audio settings to “TV sound” and not HDMI. Otherwise, please don’t change the audio settings as it can be a pain to connect back to the Denon.
Computer Room:
We have a bedroom with a desktop computer. It is an HP and has 2 monitors. One of which is a 27” Samsung Smart Monitor. It can double as a TV and be used to cast any shows. Just change the input to get the Samsung Plus Channels if you wish to watch TV or cast to Samsung monitor from your phone.

OTHER QUICK NOTES:
- When using the master shower, turn on the fan-- it does get really steamy in there. If thats what you like, you'll be in for a treat. Once finished, we just ask you to keep door open so it can air out.
- We live here most of the time, so you'll find some personal items and clothing, we have made space for guests in the top cabinets and to hang clothing. There will also be some food and condiments in the pantry, cabinet and fridge. We don't mind sharing what we have if you're in a pinch, just let us know so we can be aware and replenish.
HOUSE RULES:
- Quiet hours after 10pm-8am. No loud music or noise. We ask you respect our neighbors as we still live there throughout the year. It’s the neighborly thing to do!
- No parties or large gatherings. Noise carries as the block is small. Please respect our neighbors and keep noise to a minimum if you are outside late.
- No smoking inside of the house of any type of substance or there will be a $500 fine to clean odor
- do not park or damage neighbors grass when driving. Do your best backing in and out as the road is narrow. Be aware the drive is private and reduced so it can be challenging parking or heading in and out if there are a lot of cars. The most cars the parking slab can accomodate is 4 (1 on each side of the garage and two parked on the front slab) do not block the street.
- it gets really dark outside. Please be careful outside, children should always be supervised as the house in on the lake and there are no barriers or gates
- Pick up after yourself and your pet. Don’t leave food out, it helps keep the space clean and free of pests/wildlife
- Pets should not sleep on beds or furniture. We love them but not on our furniture.
- Do not flush wipes or feminine products down the toilet, our plumbing thanks you in advance!
- The dock is not meant for diving, please be careful when near the lake. Swimming is at your own risk so please use caution.
(If you rent the pontoon boat, please make sure all children have life jackets and the pontoon is driven clockwise. There are police on the lake, so any fines and violations will be charged back towards the deposit. Be safe out there and enjoy, but always be responsible and make sure the driver is NOT DRINKING ALCOHOL or IMPAIRED. Any lost anchors will incur an additional fee. (SEPARATE CONTRACT WILL BE SENT)
CHECKOUT INSTRUCTIONS:
- Remove all linens/sheets from the bed and pillows. You can leave the duvets on as our cleaners handle that. We know it can be a pain!
- Put used bath towels and beach towels inside the tub so the cleaning crews knows which to wash
- All dishes should be washed or loaded in the dishwasher prior to leaving. There are soap pods and trash bags in the drawer to the left of the sink. **Please make sure to rinse the dishes prior to loading the dishwasher to remove food particles.
- Make sure the bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, sun room, outside are all free of debris, garbage, cups/bottles and personal belongings. Don’t forget anything! Our crews are instructed to toss anything left behind.
- Return any outdoor furniture to its original spot. The hammock cloths should be stored inside the cabinet of the prep station outside so it doesn’t get wet or damaged with the weather.
- Please cover any grills/stations once they are not in use and cooled down. Wipe down what you can, we appreciate it!
- Return any indoor furniture to it’s original spot, turn off all lights, appliances, TV’s, fans, etc. All TV and Fan remotes should be placed back in their spot. For the living room, there is a basket that holds them and fan remotes.
- AC should be set to 77 degrees in the summer, HEAT should be set to 60 in the winter.
- Lock all windows and doors. Please make sure NOT to lock the bottom knob of the front door so the cleaners can use the code to get in.
- Return all keys to any lockboxes and move blue trash bin to the edge of the cemented slab for trash pick up. You can have up to 4 bags of trash neatly piled next to the container if they don’t fit.

- IF YOU RENTED THE PONTOON BOAT, PLEASE CHECK THOSE RULES ON THE SEPARATE AGREEMENT. WE WOULD APPRECIATE AT LEAST A 48 HOUR NOTICE ON EXACT DAYS SO THAT WE CAN COORDINATE THE RENTAL OF THE BOAT AS WE HAVE TO SCHEDULE KEY DROP OFF WITH THIRD PARTY. WE APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE IF WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE YOU.
